How to wait and more shots!

I got my second set of Hep A and Hep B shots tonight in one arm, and Typhoid in the other.  My arms are a little bit more sore than last time.  I went from the travel clinic to a waiting parents meeting at my local agency to be the only parent there.  It worked out that I had a good chat with the lady running the meeting and learned about her adoption and shared my story to date, along with some of its ups and downs.

I have no news on my dossier except that it arrived in Toronto last Friday.  Now I am waiting to receive the registration package.  I don't think anything will happen until my local agency receives the package and I sign it and return it.  Time just continues to tick and tick!  When I think I should be happy in this process, "Hey, I got my dossier in," I then find myself wondering if the process will ever have a happy ending.  Have others felt this way?

Today, I have been waiting for nine months and five days.  I guess I could be classed as over-due!

  1. Elizabeth,

I finally got around to reading your previous blog posts. It's so exciting that you finally got you Dossier in! It's the next step for us as well, but our country is closed (?^%$@!*@!)..

I tried to guess your country, but couldn't... I can't wait for you to post it :)

It's really unfair that your process is so much more complicated because you're single... I was raised by a single Mom and never lacked anything, be it material or emotional. I know it wasn't always easy for her, but us kids never suffered from the situation. She did a great job and I'm sure you can too...

Keep us posted as soon as you hear from Ontario! Good luck,
    Gen

  2. Thank you Gen for posting about being raised by a single mum. It means a lot to me and I am hoping that might be the connection for me on Canada Adopts. I don't know why there aren't any prospective parents from Alberta on the Canada Adopts website. Have you checked it out or are you guys set on an international adoption? The packages on Canada Adopts range in price depending on how many photos you want and whether you want a video. I am now trying to sort out my home study and the age of the child. I am phoning what I think is our "in common" agency in Toronto on Friday, I hope. Thanks again, Elizabeth
P.S. Glad you are home safe and sound from Down Under. How great you were able to have the visit?
